Surgical Therapy
During the diagnostic work up we evaluate the stability of the affected motion segment. In case of instability, it is advisable to also stabilize the degenerated motion segment along with the operation to todecompress neural structures. Scientific studies have impressively shown that scarring in the operated segment is promoted by the instability. This, in turn, might bring back the previous pain.
Non Stabilization Spinal Surgery
Mainly decompressive interventions of the neural spinal structures are subsumed under this category. In cases of disc herniation of spinal stenosis, it can be fully sufficient to carefully remove the narrowing structures. This intervention is carried out with utilizing a microscope in order to maintain best safety during the surgery.
- Microscopic disc removal
- Microscopic decompression
Stabilizing and Corrective Spinal Surgery
Stabilizing intervention in the spine with implants are performed in the following diseases of the spine:
- Spondylolisthesis
(slipped vertebra) - Degenerative disc disease
(wear of the disc space and vertebra) - Spinal osteoarthritis
(degeneration of the facet joints) - Scoliosis
(crooked spine) - Tumors of the spine
- Spondyilitis
(infection of the spine)
